=== Vacation in Montafon === Montafon is a forty-kilometer long Alpine valley through which the Ill River flows. Anyone who values active recreation in unspoiled natural surroundings is at the right address in a vacation flat in the Montafon, and in all seasons. Over Lower Montafon, the “Austrian Matterhorn” towers in the 2,600-meter high Zimba peak. If one climbs higher, the reservoir and glaciers of the Silvretta Alps offer a splendid landscape panorama. Anyone who books a vacation flat in Vandans passes through a rambling community at the start of the valley. Rewarding hikes are possible here through the Rell Valley and further to the lower Zaluanda mountain pasture. At almost 2,000 meters, one can reach Lüner Lake on a hike of about five hours. In Schruns, the valley’s main town, the selection of vacation lodgings is large, and a vacation house with a central location in Montafon is not hard to find. As well, the neighboring town of Tschaggun is a tourist center. A pilgrimage church invites visitors here. Well worth a visit is the Heimat Museum (museum of local history) located in an historical farmhouse in Schruns. On a cableway, vacationers staying in a vacation house in Montafon can comfortably reach the Kapellalpe. Bartholomäberg is the oldest settlement of Montafon. Grouped around the parish church, built in 1732, are many charming farmhouses.
